A Prayer for Grieving Parents

By: Reppard and Summer Gordon

Lord Jesus,

We ask you to please be near to those mothers and fathers who are hurting right now.

Please carry them, Lord, when they cannot carry themselves.

You tell us that you will never leave us, nor forsake us, and we pray that these parents will rest in the truth that they are not alone.

We know, Father, that you are near to the brokenhearted. Envelop them with your presence and show them that even in their heartache, there is no better place to be than near you.

We ask that your presence will be palpable. Wrap them in your arms and comfort them in ways that only you can do. Strengthen them with a supernatural strength that only you can provide.

Jesus, we ask that they will experience an intimacy with you unlike anything they have ever experienced in the past. Let them find an intimacy that would not have been possible without their heartache.

Remind them, please Lord, that their tears matter to you. Your word says that you collect our tears in a bottle, so we know that not one of them goes unnoticed.

We ask you to redeem their heartache, Father. We know you will. Be glorified through their pain, through their lives, and through this trial.

Please remind them that their hurt is not wasted.

You are a God of restoration and you are working in the unseen."For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far surpasses them all."

Above all....we pray that they will keep their hearts and minds fixed on you.

Amen.
